Whether or not he really had been hit with a virus, it hardly mattered to Scotty. The important thing was that even if he hadn't been - even if that physics project was due next week - he had plans for the weekend that didn't involve sitting around being sober. He'd invited Jack over to his world for a night out at the pub, or at least, the closest thing to a pub that he could find in America. Any excuse to wear something other than his cadet uniform, really. He'd ditched his dorm and his roommate as soon as he had a minute, and wandered down to the quad to wait for Jack to arrive.

He glanced down, still grinning, still a bit pink around the ears. "Oh yeah?" he asked, glancing back up at Jack. "Bit out o' practice, me," he admitted, taking refuge in his drink again.

"Yeah?" Jack asked, repeating Scotty's question back at him. "Well, that's too bad. Clearly, that means you're just going to have to brush up on your skills more often, then," Jack said, with a smirk. He really did like that blush on Scotty's face, there, after all. He wondered if it was as warm to the touch as it seemed just looking at it.

"Haven't got much time t'practice, I'm afraid." He drained the last of his glass, though he didn't get up to grab another one right away. "'Course..." Well, he had some free time right now, didn't he?

Jack seemed to be able to follow Scotty's train of thought, and grinned, taking another sip of his drink. "Isn't that what weekends are for, then? Brushing up on your skills? Wouldn't want to get rusty..."

He laughed quietly, that blush flaring up again as he focused most of his attention on his now-empty glass. "Yeah, I guess so."

Jack laughed, taking another big sip of his drink, draining his second glass before sitting forward and grinning at the other man. "Oh, Scotty. Don't tell me that you're already out of practice! You're far too young and hot for that to be the case."

"Not entirely out o' practice," he answered, glancing back up. "Just... not as much practice as I'd like, yeah?"

"Well..." Jack said, leaning forward toward Scotty and raising an eyebrow. "There's no time like the present, right?"

He leaned in as well, though not quite so much as Jack, propping his elbows on the table and resting his chin in his hands. "So I've always heard, yeah."

Jack cocked his head at the other man, amused by the position that Scotty had taken to be sitting in. "So. What are your opinions on the matter then, Scotty?" he asked, slyly.

Scotty leaned in just a little more, glancing around almost conspiratorially. He wasn't quite tipsy, but he'd had enough to loosen him up, and it certainly didn't hurt that Jack was plenty open about the subject. "Just between you an' me, my roommate's out o' town for the weekend."

"Oh yeah?" Jack asked, with a deep chuckle. "That's convenient. Think they'd mind if you had a visitor over, in the meantime?" he asked. "Then again..." He grinned at the other man. "They don't ever have to find out, if they would..."

"Considerin' the number o' times he's kicked me out? Yeah, shouldn't be a problem." Not that his roommate ever had to know, of course.

"Oh yeah?" Jack asked, moving to rest his head on his hand, not leaning back at all. "And what about you? How often d'you kick him out, then?" He grinned. "Have you kicked him out, before?"

"Think it's about time I got a bit o' revenge, yeah?" he answered, not quite answering Jack's question. "Not that... I'd be kickin' him out... Since he's not there... Y'know, that. That sort o' sounded better in my head, sorry."

Jack grinned at the other man, completely charmed by his level of awkwardness, there. "Oh, I think you might be able to come up with some way to rub it in his face that you had a bit of fun. If...you're up for a bit of fun, that is. Maybe even...some dancing?" Jack smirked.

He grinned, his cheeks going a bit pink yet again, and for a moment, he didn't say anything. Then, suddenly, he stood, offering his hand to Jack. "May I have this dance?"

There was that blush again. Jack was pretty sure he was going to do everything in his power to keep it going, as well. Jack stood, taking the other man's hand. "I thought you'd never ask," he said, in response.

"C'mon. Let's get out o' here, yeah?" He gestured back to the door, taking a step back, still holding onto Jack's hand.

Jack squeezed Scotty's hand, pleased that the other man hadn't let go, that he had continued on with his dancing theme, there, so Jack could flirt and play around with words.

"Lead on, Scotty," he said, with a grin.

Had the pub been not quite so crowded, and had Scotty been perhaps just a tiny bit more inebriated, he might have actually begun dancing right then and there. Actual dancing, that is, not the sort of dancing that he and Jack had in mind. Instead, he headed for the door, threading through the crowd.

Jack was fine with following the other man out the doors, away from the crowd. He didn't have actual dancing on his mind then at all, as it were, but something a lot less public. Well. He was pretty sure Scotty was intending that it be a lot less public, and he'd go along with whatever he could get, really.

He took the same way back to the Academy that he'd used to get to the pub, taking his time. There was plenty of time left in the evening, after all. "You still haven't told me your name," he said, glancing sideways at the other man.

Jack looked at the man walking beside him and shrugged, with a grin. "Guess not, huh?" he said, intentionally brushing aside the topic once more. "What do you think my name is, then?"

He stopped, and took a step back, eying Jack up and down as though honestly trying to figure out what his name might be. "Don't know. Never been much good with names, me."
