future!verse: A Quick Visit

While sorting out meeting up with Liz's parents hadn't been too much of a hassle, trying to find a time to meet his family was proving to be more difficult than it really should be. They ended up having to take a shuttle over to Scotland - a fairly quick trip, though of course not so quick as the transporters would have been - where they'd be staying with Scotty's sister for a few days before heading back to California. Of course, traveling from one side of the world to the other meant they'd had to get time zones sorted out, and in order to arrive at Scotland at a reasonable time, they'd had to leave California at a very unreasonable time.

The trip was uneventful, and when they reached their destination, the worst they'd have to contend with was a bit of jet lag. For once - miracle of miracles - it wasn't raining, and while the air was definitely cooler than in California, it wasn't half so bad as Scotty had feared it would be. And although it didn't exactly feel like home, not anymore, he realized he'd missed it more than he thought. "Well, love, this is it." Now to go find his father, who was supposed to be picking them up.

She snuggled in against him. He asked what she thought and it took her far too long to come up with an answer. She was half asleep by time her head hit the pillow. She felt him relax when she'd gotten in bed and having him feel that way only fed it back to her. She sighed and nodded. She then proceeded to murmur something about wanting kids, but she was already falling asleep by time it was half out of her mouth.

So they slept a little later than they meant to, which was okay with her. Either way, when Clara came in to let them know about dinner, Liz had already heard the excitement going on downstairs. On occasion, while she was sleeping, her guard was down and she'd start hearing thoughts before she even woke up, kind of like hearing people talk as you woke up except it tended to make her dream really weird. It never really bothered her on the Enterprise since she wasn't often interrupted, but this was out of the ordinary. Getting used to more noise, or unfamiliar noise, was going to take some time.

Monty wasn't looking too happy about it either. Like usual, they'd gone from sleeping right next to each other, to opposite sides of the bed. Liz rolled over and snuggled up against him, groaning, "can't we just pretend we're not here?"

Liz nuzzled against him. She really had no desire to get up but she knew that if she kept sleeping it wouldn't help them get anywhere in way of not being jet lagged. They needed to power through it or they were going to get into trouble. She tangled her legs with him and mumbled something against his chest. She huffed a sigh afterwards, though. "We should probably...." she trailed off, looking up at him with a pathetic look on her face.

He untangled himself and she whined at him wordlessly, sounding like a little kid. She didn't really know where he was going until he came back. He suggested sleep and she realized that he must have convinced them that they were both too tired to be of pleasurable company. Instead of fighting that they should, Liz outstretched her arms and open and shut her hands repeatedly at him, beckoning him childishly back to bed. He did get back into bed and she half laid on top of him, tangling her legs with his again. "Whad'ja tell'm..." she muttered against his chest.

She was okay with this explanation if they were. His yawn made her yawn and then she giggled sleepily. He started to toy with her hair and she got comfortable all over again. "Told your sister," she murmured, not really finishing the thought. There was more to it, but apparently it wasn't important enough to both explaining further. If he was awake, he'd ask, if not, it would come up later.

She could feel his eyes - or eye - on her. She just snuggled in closer. "My ability," she clarified. Now was probably not the time to be having this talk since neither of them were awake and ready to actually have this conversation. She hadn't exactly explained anything in detail to Clara, but enough so that she understood.
