[for Chris]

He was a bit nervous. Which was silly, because he really shouldn't be nervous, because for God's sake, it was just Chris, and they'd already had a couple dates, sort of, and at this rate he thought he was never going to be not nervous before a date with her. He wasn't even really sure why he was so nervous. Talking to her hadn't been this big a deal before they'd started dating, but for some reason, now that they were dating, he couldn't seem to get through a conversation with her without fidgeting and blushing and more or less feeling like he was a teenager all over again.

So this time, at least, he'd chosen a location for a date that was on his turf, so to speak. They'd already had dinner and movie in Chris's quarters, but his quarters were out of the question until he could manage to clean up a bit. That pretty much just left the engine room, and while it wasn't really the most conventional location for a date, it was somewhere he'd feel comfortable. Not that he didn't feel comfortable in Chris's quarters, but he was familiar with the engine room, and he hoped that familiarity would help him not turn into such a stammering idiot around Chris.

That wasn't really a yes and that wasn't really a no, so Christine wasn't entirely sure how to respond. Compromise between outright letting him go and kissing him again seemed to be just standing there, letting herself be completely asorbed in the moment with him.

More kissing, she could definitely do. Following his lead, she returned the kiss gently, slowly. It felt important to let him set the pace for a bit.

She wouldn't have objected to either of his options at this point, but if she had to choose, without a doubt she'd prefer to stay in his arms, getting quite thoroughly kissed. And, quite casually slipping her hand further down, only to sneak it up under the hem of his shirt, letting her fingertips brush over his side.

Well if more touching was going to get her kissed like that, she hardly had reason to stop, now did she? Pleased by his initial response, she slid her up up and around, trailing her fingertips along his spine for a few vertebrae before resting her palm flat against his back.

That would be problematic. And would have to be suggested by him, because she was getting a little too single-minded for anyone's good and that meant that she was hardly likely to suggest a change in locale anytime soon.

"Right," she breathed out, nodding and slipping her hand out from under his shirt. "That's smart. My quarters?"

She slipped her hand into his, lacing their fingers together as she started edging her way out of their little corner. "That doesn't matter to me. But don't let me make you uncomfortable, okay?"

"Well, that's just silly," she said, bumping her shoulder lightly against his. "It's you. I won't be disappointed."

Laughing a little in herself, feeling her cheeks pleasantly flushed from the previous kisses and the current plans, she shook her head. "Short of, like, serious injury or you leaving before I have a chance to cuddle you, I'm going to enjoy it. I promise."

"Alright, then, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. It's gonna be good."

When he spoke, she glanced over to him, giving a little smile. "You're welcome, you've been worth every wait so far," she said quietly. "And you're the first guy in, like, four years, who's looked at me and didn't give off the impression he only kept me around for my brains or my body. So."

"Hey, better my brownies than my science degrees." Chuckling, she leaned in enough to kiss his cheek. "Thank you," she added softly, meaning it with all of her heart.
