The problem with letting Helen take care of most of the planning for the wedding meant having to make several trips up north in order to get things sorted out, because even if Helen was doing most of the planning, it was still his and Liz's wedding. He personally would have been happy leaving the decisions to Helen, but at the same time, he was trying to at least attempt to help make a few decisions here and there.

Currently, he was trying and failing to tell the difference between two types of flower, which were apparently different enough that they had to pick one or the other and by the way Helen talked about it, it was apparently a life or death decision. Okay, so maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but flowers were pretty much just flowers, as far as he was concerned. Eventually he managed to untangle himself from the discussion and went back to flipping through the magazine he'd brought with him.

Liz just raised an eyebrow because though his thoughts didn't keep going that direction, she was now extremely curious about what he was thinking. Surely it had to do with the short skirts, but that was for another time, she assumed. "You look just fine, you just don't know what to do with yourself after all these years," she replied, sounding playfully exasperated with him over it. She giggled to herself.

She took the opportunity to look busy and fall silent. And what about those short skirts? she asked him, wanting to know exactly where that brain of his was going with this. She didn't mind him thinking things in front of her mother. that wasn't really the best use for her telepathy, but they did what they wanted.

This was not the time to be having these kinds of conversations. This was not the time for her to be nearly choking on her own oxygen because he was thinking absolutely horrible things. Too bad you won't have some office to visit... though I did keep a uniform just in case you want to remember me from when we fell in loooove. She had to bite her lip from laughing.

Liz knew how horrible it was that they were having this conversation. She also knew that this wasn't exactly uncommon for them to do silly things like this, so when he blushed, she bit her lip and when he sent another message her way, she glanced up at him. Are you complaining?

She was barely holding on as well. It was only her training in psychiatry that allowed her keep a straight face. I really have one. I didn't steal it. They knew I took it. I had become kind of fond of it.

That was a weird thing to become fond of, but she spent so much time in one of those and she was so used to those uniforms. She met him in one. It was just a little sentimental of her.

Liz didn't respond just yet because she knew that he was about to lose it and she also knew that her mother was having thoughts of leaving the room. Eventually Helen did speak up after whining about the flowers some more before standing and wandering off to the living room where she would be more 'appreciated.' The second she was out of the room, Elizabeth snorted a laugh and looked up at her husband, nudging his foot with her own under the table. She still wasn't about to talk about this out loud in her parents house.

You really should have. I do like you in black though. We could always roleplay me as your student, Commander. This of course made her giggle again.

She couldn't help herself. She leaned forward, both elbows on the table, stared him straight in the eyes and waited. She didn't respond, not just yet, knowing he couldn't hold a straight face for too long. She nudged his foot again, sliding it slightly up his leg and smirking before finally giving in. You know I would.

I think our time here is long overdue, don't you? She's just going to bother me more about flowers... She didn't stop moving her leg on his and she smirked right back. Overall, they were pretty stupid looking while staring each other down for now apparent reason. It wasn't the first time they looked stupid together in public.

She just smiled at him and stood when he did. "Yes, I think that would be best," she added to his comment, not bothering to fake a yawn herself. She strolled into the living room and informed her mother that they were leaving. Helen protested, trying to convince Liz that she really did need to make a decision on the flowers and Liz nearly stuck her fingers in her ears and sang just to block it out.

They left moments later, Liz taking Monty's hand and smiling up at him. "Tired?"

She just laughed at him. "Yes, my mother is so concerned about her adult daughter's bed time is," she teased, leaning against him.

It wasn't too long until that were back in their home. The place was furnished more than it had been before and at least she felt like ti was starting to resemble home. She wasn't so sure about how he was feeling. She imagined some days it felt too big. She tried to compensate for that for him by sticking close on days like that.

They walked in and immediately she excused herself, though and disappeared and a few minutes later, when she returned, Liz was dressed in her blue uniform, skirt too short (as always) and he'd find out soon enough that there was absolutely nothing underneath it. She did think to put on a pair of black heels though.

She smiled and let out a breathy laugh. "No, I doubt we'd get anywhere if you had to try that," she teased. Swaying into the room, her heels clicked with each step until she was standing in front of him. She was a little surprised that the dress fit still. She wasn't as thin as she was before. Maybe that's why it felt so short.

He stood to meet her and she smiled at him. The kiss was sweet and he spoke against her lips. Liz let her eyes drift shut and sighed. Year after year after year he had asked her if he told her lately that he loved her. Year after year she knew over and over the answer would always be a teasing remark. Some things never changed. "Hmm..." she pouted her lips so they pressed against his, "...not nearly enough, I believe."

She draped her arms around his shoulders; the act of reaching up causing her skirt to ride even higher. She simply kissed him in return.

His hand moved lower while his lips stayed connected with hers. She kissed him in return and smiled softly, murmuring 'I love you' right back to him. His hand traveled downwards until his fingers touched skin. Elizabeth took the opportunity to make sure she was fully pressed against him. That was when she took the opportunity to deepen the kiss.
